Seminary - Our Plan

In order to meet the need of our Seminary education and formation efforts, we must raise a minimum of $2.5 million.

To do this we have proposed a limited major gift program to ask 150 to 200 lay Catholics and clergy to consider cash or deferred gifts to support the Most Reverend Robert E. Mulvee Seminary Education and Formation Endowment Fund.

After careful study, our plan includes the following elements:

  • Request support from donors averaging $25,000 and payable over three years to be added immediately to the Endowment Fund for investment and use in the near term for present needs.
  • Secure deferred gifts from donors averaging $100,000 from bequests, charitable gift annuities, lead trusts, and other planned giving vehicles to provide funds that will be added for future use in seminary education and formation.
  • Work with specific parish communities who wish to support seminarians through Stewardship commitments, adopt-a-seminarian program, and other community-based means of financial support.
  • Enhance publicity efforts prior to the annual seminary collection to increase the number of donations and the dollars raised from $150,000 to over $250,000 annually.
  • Insure that long-term education and formation needs of our seminarians are perpetuated through the continued professional and prudent investment of endowed funds through the Catholic Foundation of Rhode Island
